A reimagining of an 18th-century Toile de Jouy print, Coquecigrues blends historic French motifs with artist Christian Astuguevieille’s unique “imaginary writing.” The design layers hand-drawn ink brushwork over glimpses of the original woodblock pattern, creating a playful mix of past and present. Inspired by a 1792 print from the Oberkampf manufactory, now housed in the Toile de Jouy Museum.
