October has a way of changing the mood. The light gets softer, the coffee gets spicier, and suddenly we’re all very interested in darker colors, richer textures, and rooms with a little mystery. So naturally, we asked the team to pull their favorite moody wallpaper picks for the season. Think deep botanicals, shadowy florals, saturated color, and patterns that feel just dramatic enough. The kind of wallpaper that works perfectly with a pumpkin latte in hand, but doesn’t need October as an excuse.
Because a moody room isn’t a seasonal commitment. If dark, cozy, slightly mysterious interiors are your thing, consider this your sign to lean in.
We pulled a few of our favorites below, and the best part is you can shop them right on the site.
Chelsea’s Pick
Lead Designer + Founder of Chelsea Lane & Co.
Chiavi Segrete
Chelsea went straight for the mystery.
Chiavi Segrete is layered with hand-drawn foliage, but hidden throughout the pattern are antique-style keys. It has depth, movement, and just enough intrigue to make you look twice.
Chelsea’s take:
“I love that you don’t notice everything at once. It feels lush and dramatic, but then you start finding the little keys hidden in the pattern and it gets even better. It has that old-world mystery I love without feeling themed. It also makes me think of one of my favorite childhood books and movies, The Secret Garden, which gives it that extra little sense of nostalgia and mystery for me.”
Valerie’s Pick
Assistant Designer
Alga
Valerie took moody in a softer direction.
Alga is inspired by drifting seaweed and delicate underwater fronds, with subtle shimmering threads that give it movement and a quiet glow. It feels atmospheric rather than dark, almost like looking through water in low light.
Valerie’s take:
“I love that this one feels moody without being heavy. The movement in the pattern is so pretty, and the shimmer gives it this slightly mysterious, almost underwater feeling. It’s quiet, but definitely not boring.”
Ariel’s Pick
Showroom Manager
Congo
Ariel chose the one with a little more drama.
Congo takes its inspiration from lush African landscapes, with a wild, layered quality that feels immersive and adventurous. In the deeper colorways, it has that perfect fall mood: rich, enveloping, and just a little untamed.
Ariel’s take:
“This one feels like you’re stepping into another world. I love how bold it is without feeling too polished or precious. In a darker colorway, it would make a powder room, bar, or dining room feel completely transformed.”
Spooky season or not, the mood can stay.
