Chelsea Viau has over 20 years of experience in the wallpaper industry and her future in pattern and design was predetermined before she was a twinkle in her mother’s eye. Founder of Chelsea Lane & Co, Chelsea Viau, is the daughter of the infamous Wendy Ricks of Wallpaper by Wendy, who has been installing wallpaper in South Florida homes and businesses for 30 years. As a child Chelsea would accompany her mother on installation projects and collect scraps of multi colored wallpaper for dollhouses that she sketched and designed layouts for herself. Since the beginning of her experience with wall coverings, Chelsea’s interests were less focused on the installation process and more centered on the design aspect of the wallpaper industry. In 2010, Chelsea and Wendy joined forces and opened a wallpaper showroom and boutique, which showcased a library of wallpaper books as well as furniture and décor for sale. Chelsea co-owned and operated the business while attending college and majoring in Business Marketing and Design.
As an entrepreneur, Chelsea is continuously collaborating with local artisans as well as creating future business models in the design industry. Chelsea is a proponent of supporting local businesses as well as donating her services to local charitable organizations such as the Kid Sanctuary Campus and the Red Cross Show House.
Today Chelsea and Wendy no longer share a business, but each own businesses that co-exist with one another. Chelsea’s boutique boasts the largest wallpaper library in Palm Beach County and Wallpaper by Wendy is the in house installation team. Chelsea and Wendy are each professionals in their prospective fields and you couldn’t possibly find a better team!
“Our parents sometimes don’t realize how much they shape us as a person and how much they can influence our entire lives. I owe everything I am and everything I strive to be to my mother. I was raised by the hardest working woman on the planet. Not only did she inspire me to be the best I can, but she helped push me along the way” –Chelsea Viau
